Deep-fried mini crab spot in Richmond shutting down this weekend

A restaurant in Richmond is preparing to say its final goodbye this weekend.
Chinese-Korean restaurant Cherry's Food House announced on social media that it will be closing permanently on Sept. 14 after a seven-year run on the well-known "food street" of Alexandra Road.
The restaurant was most well-known for its deep-fried mini crab dish, but also offered a variety of staple Korean dishes, from fried chicken and seafood pancakes to hot tofu soup and black bean noodles.
An Instagram post on the local business' account said it made the "difficult decision" to close, citing the end of its "current chapter" for the restaurant.
"Your support and loyalty over the years have meant the world to us, and we are truly grateful for every visit, every shared meal, and every memory made here," reads the post.
However, it hinted that "something new and exciting" would be coming soon in the future.
The team at Cherry's Food House also operated a food stall, Cherry's Tofu House, in Aberdeen Centre's food court, but closed early this summer.
Travis Kelce & Patrick Mahomes Just Revealed The Menu For Their New Steakhouse

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce love a good night—and not just any date night. The newly engaged couple has a knack for dining at the hottest restaurants. They nabbed an impossible-to-get reservation at The Corner Store, dined at Yelp's 2024 restaurant of the year, and are known to frequent celeb-fave Nobu—whether in New York or Malibu.
Now, there's a new haunt for the soon-to-be newlyweds to add to their rotation: Travis's own steakhouse. ICYMI, the Chiefs' tight end (aka Mr. Taylor Swift) has opened a restaurant in Kansas City with teammate Patrick Mahomes. Just yesterday, Kelce and Swift were spotted arriving "hand in hand" and looking "low-key but affectionate" at the soft opening, Page Six reports.
While the steakhouse—named 1587 Prime, in honor of the teammates' jersey numbers—officially opens on September 17, an early look at the menu has me ready to book a flight to Kansas City.
"With 1587 Prime, we didn’t just set out to create another steakhouse. We worked with Patrick and Travis to capture the essence of Kansas City—its pride, its hospitality, and its passion for great food—while staying true to Noble 33’s brand vision and design aesthetic," co-founder Tosh Berman said in a statement.
